Amanda Brugel

Brugel is the only Canadian member of the Season 1 cast. The actress was only seen at times. But in Season 2 she was a series permanent and has been a part of the show ever since. The actress spoke about her character and any resemblances to her life beyond the cameras In her interview, Brugel could describe her own personal experience with discrimination based on race to the "Marthas" saing, at times, "I use it, and not just for her job within the home as Martha. Martha, but I very much lean on race, and as I've said about the experiences of my past where you feel that I've been treated as a slave to situations simply because of the color of my skin. My race hasn't caused physical harm through my entire life, but the verbal abuse I've encountered. When someone says something sharp or even biting or smacking me, I will use any racist attacks that felt real for me. This is almost like hitting her during every scene.
