Scarlett Johansson (born November 22 1984 New York City New York, U.S.) American artist and actress whose range earned her popular acclaim in a variety of categories ranging from period dramas to action and thriller. Johansson was born in New York City, and lived there with her father who was an architect and her mother, a producer. Hunter Her twin and Johansson were all the youngest of four children. When she was seven, she had already begun doing auditions for commercials in the television. Soon after she enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and later took classes at the Professional Children's School in Manhattan for further training in her craft. At age eight she appeared with Ethan Hawke in the Off-Broadway production Sophistry, and at nine she had her first film role in Rob Reiner's North (1994). Johansson appeared next with Ethan Hawke in Just Cause (1996), but it was Manny & Lo 1996 that brought her to the forefront. The film is about two young girls that are wandering off. In The Horse Whisperer, Johansson appeared as a teenager victimized by an horrific crash. The role she played in Ghost World, 2001 as the rebellious teenager Rebecca was a further boost to her profile. Smith had her first acting gig at 6 years old, with the assistance of her parents. She was a part of a television commercial for Dannon yogurt. Like many other actresses starting out, she opted to develop her craft in the world of theatre. While she made her on-stage debut in Wildflower she would also work on different projects across USA. She was a student at in the Stonestreet Studios Conservatory, part of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
